Biography
Evidence-led advocacy, from civil society to the boardroom
Ebenezer Tackie Oblie founded the Institute for New Policy Thinking (INPT) to improve the decisions that shape Ghana’s future through rigorous research, fresh ideas and practical solutions.
His policy work is rooted in civil society. He was among the activists who pushed for profit-sharing models in Ghana’s upstream petroleum fiscal regime, arguing that citizens deserve a fairer share of the nation’s oil and gas wealth. That campaign showed him how much evidence-led advocacy can achieve, and the same approach now guides everything INPT does.
For eight years he has trained young Ghanaians in public policymaking through partners such as the Institute for Liberty and Policy Innovation (ILAPI) and the YAFO Institute. About 100 young people have gone through his training, and several have founded their own organisations for change.
Ebenezer is also a trusted public voice, appearing on leading Ghanaian media platforms including Metro TV and Joy TV, where he explains complex policy questions in plain terms.
He brings corporate experience to INPT’s work. At StarLife Assurance Company Limited he rose to Portfolio Manager, building and leading corporate relationships, mentoring business teams and helping shape company strategy. This gives INPT practical knowledge of how policy affects businesses, investors and institutions.
He is pursuing an Executive MBA at NIBs University, has completed several training programmes in leadership, management and public policy, and speaks English, Twi, Dagbani, Mamprusi and Kasem, which helps INPT’s ideas reach communities well beyond Accra.
