Public value
Who gains, who pays, and do citizens support it?
The PVRI rates any policy proposal on the value it creates for the public, from Prime Value to Eroding Value.
Why it matters
An alternative “invisible hand” for public goods
Unlike the private sector, the state lacks the market incentives and price signals that reveal value, so public policy is often formed amid ambiguity and inefficiency.
Just as there are established ways of measuring shareholder value, the PVRI measures the public value of policy proposals, alternatives and ideas from political parties, pressure groups, policymakers and social actors.
